Battlefield 6 Players Concur: Missions Are Excessively Difficult

The release of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 garnered significant enthusiasm, especially for its premier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, simultaneous player numbers surged to nearly 750,000. Yet, in spite of its success, an increasing amount of players are voicing discontent with several of the title's hardest challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.

Users have commenced resorting to custom matches set up using Battlefield Portal to complete them, highlighting just how grueling these missions have become.

Grasping Battlefield 6 Assignments

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, different from the frequently updated day-to-day and weekly tasks. The game includes four categories of assignments, but although many only reward cosmetics and some tools, finishing the gun missions is the sole method of obtaining 12 of the 41 main guns present in the game.

Some of these locked weapons might eventually find their way on rosters of the finest arms in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration via Reddit

Within Reddit, players are reasonably expressing their worries about how challenging and repetitive some of these challenges are. One user pointed out one of the most egregious examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so awful and entirely ill-conceived, I want to tear my hair out," is a comment that illustrates just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it has significantly fewer benefits in combat as it used to in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

Meanwhile, using an LMG from the hip is highly imprecise and only works at very short distances, which is seldom the location you want to be. The same user also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that task would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Overly Demanding Task

A different forum member pointed out a further incredibly demanding challenge, now in the long-range weapon type to obtain the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns from more than 200 meters away with marksman guns

This is difficult enough as it is, but there's another important point to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at that kind of range.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but because there are just nine levels in the game right now, it restricts you to playing New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and possibly Operation Firestorm if you're lucky if you plan to engage from afar from a significant distance.

The Bypass

However, there is a solution: the portal. The Battlefield Portal is a feature that enables you to make custom game modes on the battleground of your choice, complete with bots. This means you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't really seem like the spirit of the game.

However, when doing the challenges in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an unconventional way that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can fault a player for grinding them out in a personal session so teammates aren't hindered?

Upcoming Tweaks

It should not be shocking if some of these assignments are made easier in the near future, because if they're not, a portion of the user base simply are unlikely to obtain the restricted guns.

For now, the community continues to share their thoughts on these strenuous in-game tasks, anticipating a less arduous player experience in subsequent patches.
