Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Is Here, Introducing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. It was showcased in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that focused exclusively on the upcoming animated film.
The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will propel Mario to the distant reaches of the universe. In his journey, he meets a fresh princess character and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Space-Faring Quest Based on Iconic Releases
In the vein of the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.
However, it seems Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who reportedly utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also contains hints to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The feature will feature once again of the primary vocal talent, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. It was announced by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
The new Mario movie is set to release near the 40-year celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. title. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his friends.
The company has three new games publicly declared for that year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
