Prince William is scheduled to attend the United Nations climate conference in Brazil in the coming weeks, as announced by palace sources.

Prince William and King Charles appeared together on Thursday evening at a gathering ahead of the climate summit, which is set to be held in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.

The royal pair were participating in the Natural History Museum reception, marking an unusual joint appearance at a pre-COP30 gathering arranged together with the British authorities.

Climate Leadership Commitment

King Charles has been a consistent supporter of environmental conservation - and the Prince of Wales has inherited the mission, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be held in Brazil preceding the UN meeting.

Palace insiders have characterized Prince William's attendance at the forthcoming conference as taking on an important role in "climate diplomacy".

Previous Activities

The King and Prince of Wales, making a joint entrance in the official car, were introduced to guests including conservation experts, scientists, climate change campaigners, diplomats and politicians.

This participation included speaking together with French leader Macron of France and other global statesmen at the Marine Economy Conference in the Principality of Monaco earlier this year.

Earthshot Awards Connection

The UN meeting will dovetail with the prince's own sustainability recognition program, which will conclude in Rio de Janeiro the day before he joins the climate conference on the sixth of November.

In recent days the William described the award contenders as "modern-day pioneers".

Royal Climate Legacy

The monarch has been a key figure at past COP meetings, delivering the inaugural speech in Dubai for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the statement: "Our responsibility is to protect the world we inhabit".

"For decades I've committed a significant amount of my life trying to alert people to the survival risks confronting humanity over climate change, global temperature increases and ecological decline," the King told attendees.
