The Two Fatalities Revealed in Brown University Incident as Police Press On With Search for Perpetrator.
Two students who were killed in the recent tragic incident on the university campus had tributes paid to them on Monday – as a manhunt for their assailant continued following the release by local law enforcement of the only individual detained in connection in the case.
Honoring a Lost Student
Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was remembered as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, as stated by the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a gathering on Sunday.
Cook was vice-president of Brown’s branch of the College Republicans organization, the group said. The White House press secretary also posted sympathies publicly, stating: “Words cannot express. Keeping in mind her family and friends, above all her mom and dad.”
An International Student
The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his freshman year at the renowned school, his family confirmed.
The victim's identification was verified by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.
“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He harbored grand aspirations of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sibling Samira said in a memorial statement.
Details of the Attack
An additional nine individuals were wounded in the weekend shooting in the engineering department of Brown’s university in Providence, during the university's examination week.
Law enforcement reported late Sunday that a man aged 24 detained in a police operation at a lodging about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.
“There is a killer at large,” stated the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.
